This group started three years ago and is now using Breakthrough French 2 (Euro Edition).  We also use use a wide variety of other materials concentrating on speaking and listening skills. NB This class will start on 28th September and finish on 7th December.

Simple conversation, role-plays and grammar. Our course book is 'Facon de Parler' Book 2 (ISBN 978-1-4441-8122-7) and this year we shall begin at chapter 10. We also use McGraw Hill Practice Makes Perfect 'Complete French Grammar'. Any edition of this one is OK and they can readily be found on eBay and in charity shops.  We have a fun morning with a lively group of people and some hard work too. Some flexibility over class dates will be necessary now and again.

This is a friendly and relaxed group which has been going for some years, but we welcome new members. We concentrate on speaking and listening skills (but with some necessary grammar!). A basic knowledge of the structure of the German language is assumed for this group, although revision of grammatical points is given when required. The focus of activities is in using German over a range of practical situations and in increasing vocabulary. Alongside the guidance of the tutor, members of the group contribute actively to the functioning of the class.

We are a small group, who wish to maintain and improve knowledge of the language through conversation and interaction with others. We prepare work for discussion on a multitude of fascinating topics, study Italian books and films but grammar is never neglected. New members are very welcome.

Based on Smart and Altorfer's Teach Yourself Arabic with CD, we will look at useful Arabic words in spoken and transcription form and slowly get used to the Arabic Alphabet. The course will deal with basic greetings, food, maps and a passage from the Arabian Nights. Some basic grammar of nouns, adjectives, verbs and prepositions will be developed using power point presentations.

This short course is intended for two groups of members: anyone intending to take a beach holiday in East Africa or a wildlife safari and anyone interested in languages who would like to learn something of a language which is very different from the European languages with which they are familiar.
