Mindful Movement for 55+

Lorraine Watts

SP10

MOVE@HD1

Friday 11.00 - 12.30

Autumn Term Only

This class is designed for those aged 55 and over, with the emphasis on promoting relaxation, flexibility, and well-being. Through a series of gentle movements, warmups and stretches your body will be prepared to be guided into postures accessible to you at your own pace ability and comfort level. We shall not be performing too many postures in each class and a variety of flowing meditative type movements. These include COEX as developed by Tony Crisp a psychologist to relieve patients of muscle tension and six element Tai Chi make for a more relaxed experience. Each class finishes with a 15 min guided relaxation. Each person is individual, and certain postures will be achieved more easily than others and all postures can be performed to a lesser or greater degree or an alternate shown. Like all exercise repetition and practice at home is the key. Also, keep to your own pace. Props such as yoga blocks and woollen blankets are used to enhance your practice and make you feel at greater ease in the posture. For those who find sitting on the floor challenging, we have chairs available for seated postures and meditation. With over 35 years of yoga experience, I’m here to assist you in finding the right posture for your body, and if something feels uncomfortable, I shall always have an alternative for you. Expect to leave feeling revitalised, relaxed and more connected to your body, with the confidence to move with ease. You are welcome to come for a taster session before committing. Special requirements: yoga mat, yoga block and a thick blanket.
