Continuing French

A class for those who have learned some French – maybe years ago, but that doesn’t matter. We use Facon de Parler 2, 5th edition, ISBN 9781444181227 and are currently at Unit 5. We also spend time on conversation and other activities. Newcomers very welcome.

Brush up your Italian

We are a small group, who wish to maintain and improve knowledge of the language through conversation and interaction with others. We prepare work for discussion on a multitude of fascinating topics and study Italian books and films. Grammar is never neglected.

Italian Intermediate Plus

We are a friendly self-help group enjoying conversation and discussion on various aspects of Italy and other general topics. A working knowledge of grammar is assumed, but we also work on improving our command of the written and spoken language using “Practice makes perfect – Italian reading and comprehension” by Riccarda Saggese (ISBN 9780071798952). We read articles in Italian taken from various sources. New members are very welcome.

Intermediate Italian

We are a self help group and are interested in all aspects of Italian life. Food, places and history, culture, traditions, celebrations, famous Italians and customs. Come along and join us, we are a friendly group.

Reading Russian

An appreciation of the Russian language through its literature. Knowledge of English grammar is helpful! Beginners in Russian can be accommodated. New students should contact the Tutor on 01484 716307 to establish their ability level. The class will be held in group members homes on rotation. 

Making the most of Spanish

This class is suitable for members already able to converse in Spanish. We will revise grammar and cover topics of current interest. We will be using a new text book ‘Easy Spanish Reader’ by William T. Tardy.

Spanish Language and Culture

This is a self help group for those with a firm grasp of grammar and a wide-ranging vocabulary. We will be sharing information, improving our understanding of the spoken language by listening to audio and audio-visual clips and discussing items of Spanish culture selected by members of the group. We welcome new and returning members.

Continue Spanish for Beginners

Suitable for for beginners or near beginners. Objectives will be to understand the basics of spoken Spanish in order to form simple sentences and initiate conversations in the language. Emphasis will be upon speaking and listening with opportunity to practise new found skills.

Suitable for those with limited Spanish, seeking an opportunity to understand the basics of the language in order to form simple sentences and initiate conversations. Emphasis will be upon speaking and listening  with the opportunity to practise new found skills.
